Placement Form

Before You Begin

Hot Cross Buns is a small, carefully run rabbitry that has raised Holland Lop rabbits as indoor family companions for over ten years. We are not a high-volume or first-come, first-served placement program. Each rabbit here is known as an individual, and placement decisions are based on long-term fit, temperament, and the needs of both the rabbit and the family.

Submitting this form does not reserve a rabbit or guarantee placement. It simply begins a conversation, allowing us to learn more about your home, your experience, and what you are hoping for in a rabbit.

Please Submit This Form Only If:

  • You are hoping to welcome a rabbit within the next 1–8 weeks

  • You are planning an indoor, integrated home

  • You are committed to proper diet, housing, veterinary care, and spay/neuter at the appropriate age

  • You are open to thoughtful matching rather than choosing based on appearance alone

  • You are prepared to continue the placement conversation if a rabbit may be a good fit

Before Continuing, Please Make Sure You Have:

  • Identified a rabbit-savvy exotic veterinarian

  • A general indoor housing plan in mind, with dimensions

  • Considered the timing and cost of spay/neuter if welcoming an unaltered rabbit

  • The names and emails (NO PHONE NUMBERS) of three references who can attest to your ability and dedication in providing stable care for a pet. Only one reference may be a relative.

  • Time set aside to complete this form thoughtfully

If you are still researching rabbits, comparing breeders, gathering this information, or deciding whether now is the right time to welcome a rabbit, we encourage you to spend more time with the All Things Bunny Blog and return when you feel ready to actively pursue placement.

You do not need to know everything, but we do need to know that you have taken time to learn, prepare, and think through daily life with a rabbit.

A Note About Communication

I personally read every application and respond thoughtfully, which requires a significant investment of time and attention. If a rabbit appears to be a possible fit, I will often ask follow-up questions before moving forward.

I completely understand that circumstances change. Families may decide to wait, pursue a different rabbit, or determine that now is not the right time to welcome a rabbit into their home. If that happens, a brief message is always appreciated.

Clear communication allows me to focus my time and attention on active placement conversations and rabbits still seeking homes. When I do not hear back, I may continue holding space in the placement process for a family that is no longer actively interested, which can delay conversations with other prospective homes.

Please be considerate of the time, effort, and lives involved in this process. Thoughtful communication helps ensure that each rabbit can be matched with the right family as efficiently and responsibly as possible.

Most families find it helpful to set aside about 15–20 minutes to complete this form thoughtfully.

Thank you for considering a Hot Cross Buns rabbit as part of your family.
