Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops is a small, home-based rabbitry in Oberlin, Ohio, where the rabbits are part of everyday life.
Our rabbits are raised indoors, known individually, and cared for closely from the beginning. We spend time watching their personalities develop, learning their habits, and understanding what helps each one feel safe, confident, and comfortable.
This has never been a fast or volume-driven rabbitry. Hot Cross Buns has grown slowly over time through experience, learning, hard decisions, and a deep commitment to doing right by the rabbits in our care.
We love the joy and sweetness rabbits bring into a home, but we also take the responsibility of raising and placing them seriously.

Every rabbit here is known as an individual. We pay attention to personality, confidence, sensitivity, social tendencies, and the kind of home where each rabbit is most likely to thrive.
Our placement process is based on thoughtful fit rather than first-come requests, and long-term wellbeing is always the priority.
We also believe education and support matter. Families who welcome a Hot Cross Bun home are not simply choosing a rabbit; they are beginning a relationship with a living companion who deserves patience, care, and understanding.
The Story Behind the Name
Our rabbitry name began with a simple, joyful moment.
When we brought home our first Holland Lop, Plum Bun, we spent an evening tossing around as many silly, food-inspired name ideas as we could think of. Somewhere in that mix, Hot Cross Buns came up — and it stayed in our hearts.
Later, when we began breeding, the name still felt right. It was playful, meaningful, and carried a small reflection of our faith.
Over time, Hot Cross Buns has come to represent both sides of this work: we do not take ourselves too seriously, but we take the responsibility of caring for these rabbits very seriously.
Established in 2016
Hot Cross Buns was established in 2016 and has grown slowly over time through experience, learning, mistakes, reflection, and a deepening sense of responsibility.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, our focus remains the same: raising indoor companion rabbits with care, placing them thoughtfully, and supporting families who value relationship-based rabbit care.
We are grateful for the many people who have trusted us, learned with us, and welcomed Hot Cross Buns rabbits into their homes.

All placements take place here in person. We do not offer delivery, shipping, or transport.
