About Sweet Tea

Sweet Tea is a very special Holland Lop buck who has been part of the Hot Cross Buns family since he was a little guy. He was born at Really Rascally Rabbitry on Christmas Day and was originally given the fitting name Jolly. After coming to HCB, he quickly became Sweet Tea — and over the past three years, he has truly lived up to his sweet name.

Sweet Tea is affectionate, cuddly, gentle, playful, and just mischievous enough to keep life interesting. He has a wonderfully loving heart and genuinely enjoys being around people. He also loves having room to run, explore, and free-roam, and he brings a happy, spunky energy wherever he goes.

Sweet Tea was also a successful breeding buck here at HCB and has contributed to some very special rabbits in our program. Now that his breeding days are behind him, he was neutered on September 30, 2026, and is beginning the transition into life as a companion rabbit.

He has been exceptionally healthy throughout his time with us and has never experienced an episode of GI stasis. We believe his excellent digestive health has been supported in large part by the high-quality hay he has received consistently throughout his life, including first-cutting Timothy hay and orchard grass.

Sweet Tea is currently adjusting to the indignity of being a newly neutered buck, and his hormones will need some time to settle. Beneath the temporary hormonal transition, though, is the same affectionate, lively little rabbit we have known and loved for years.

Litter Box Notes: Sweet Tea's litter box habits are not currently his strongest quality. As a breeding buck living in a rabbitry surrounded by the sight and scent of other rabbits, he has had plenty of hormonal and territorial reasons to be less than perfect in this area. We believe there is a very good chance that his litter habits will improve significantly once his post-neuter hormones fade and he settles into a permanent home away from the constant presence of other rabbits. His new family should still be prepared to reinforce good habits patiently and consistently.

Sweet Tea is truly one of those rabbits who is difficult for us to imagine not having here. He is funny, affectionate, full of personality, and deeply loved.

Sweet Tea in Action

Best-Fit Home

Sweet Tea is being given a special, limited opportunity to find an exceptional forever home.

Because we love him so much and would be completely happy to keep him as one of our own family rabbits, we are not looking simply for someone willing to take him. We are looking for a home that feels undeniably right for him.

Sweet Tea may be particularly well suited to life as an only Bun with a family who wants a rabbit to be deeply involved in everyday home life. He loves attention, enjoys free-roaming, and has the personality to become a true little household companion.

His ideal family would enjoy spending time with him, talking to him, petting him, allowing him plenty of supervised freedom, and appreciating the silly little bits of mischief that come with an intelligent and confident rabbit.

Because he is affectionate and gentle, Sweet Tea may also do well with respectful older children who understand how rabbits prefer to interact. Any other animals in the home should be calm and rabbit-safe.

We would especially love to see him in a home where he can enjoy generous free-roam time each day, or perhaps eventually live primarily free-roam once his litter habits are dependable.

Although we are initially giving Sweet Tea the opportunity to find a very special home as an only rabbit, bonding may also become an option after his hormones have fully settled following neutering.

A Special Placement

Sweet Tea will only be listed for a short period of time.

If the right family finds him before Christmas 2026, we will be genuinely delighted to see him begin a wonderful new chapter in a home chosen especially for him.

If that family does not appear, he isn't going anywhere.

We plan to keep Sweet Tea permanently and, once enough time has passed after his neuter, will explore bonding him with one of our family's pet does.

There is no sad outcome for Sweet Tea.

We trust God's plan for this little guy completely. If He provides Sweet Tea with an extraordinary family of his own, we will celebrate that opportunity for him. If not, we will rejoice just as much in knowing that Sweet Tea was meant to remain our boy forever.

Because of that, we will be especially thoughtful about any placement inquiries we receive for him. Sweet Tea does not simply need a home. He already has one. We are offering him the opportunity for something that might be an even better fit for this next stage of his life.

Placement Notes

Sweet Tea is being placed as an indoor companion rabbit through our normal placement process. He will go to an approved home only, and all placements are based on thoughtful fit rather than first-come availability.

His new family should be prepared to provide a safe indoor environment, generous exercise and free-roam opportunities, proper diet, regular grooming, daily interaction, and appropriate rabbit-savvy veterinary care throughout his life.

A signed placement agreement is required.

Because Sweet Tea was only recently neutered on September 30, his family should expect his hormones and territorial behaviors to take some time to fully settle. Improvements in litter habits and other hormonal behaviors often happen gradually rather than immediately.

If you feel Sweet Tea may be the unusually special little rabbit your family has been hoping for, please read our Before You Apply page first. If our placement philosophy and requirements feel like a good match, you may then complete the Placement Form so we can learn more about your home and whether Sweet Tea might be the right Bun for you.
