Pick-Up Day is full of excitement as you make the trip to bring your bunny home. What can you expect to happen when you arrive at Hot Cross Buns? How can we all work together to help your new Bun feel at ease with you? Let's explore this topic so everyone is fully prepared and knows what to expect.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed warmly into our very comfortably lived-in home. I don't possess a successful DIY gene, although my sad attempts are in evidence all around us. We don't have a House Beautiful type of home, but it is full of warmth and laughter (and animals, who are the source of much of the aforementioned laughter.) Our pets are safely ensconced in a bedroom during your visit, so you won't be pestered by our yappy dogs or persistent kitties. This visit is about you and your Bun, so we don't want our pets to be a distraction, for us, you, or the bunny.

If you have already been matched with your Bun, he/she will be in an exercise pen in our living, and should be easily visible when you step inside. Once the oohs and ahhs have been expressed, we will get your Bun out of the pen and place him/her on your lap so you can spend some time getting acquainted. The Buns are always allowed to hop around on our blanket-covered couches, so the bunny will play and explore as you interact with each other. We will chat with you and answer any questions you may have during this stage of the visit, which lasts only a few minutes for some people and up to an hour for others. This time getting to know you and watching you interact with the Bun is very important to us and helps us make certain that you have, indeed, been matched with the right one.

Next we'll go over the placement paperwork and give you time to complete the forms. I'll go make photocopies for your records, while Evelyn remains to answer any other questions you may have. We'll go over the contents of the Bunny Bag with you, offer you your choice of snuggle mat from a basket full of different fleece patterns, and will take your payment.

Next, we'll say our goodbyes to your Bun, help you get it into the carrier, and lend a hand in carrying the supplies or bunny to your car for you, if needed/desired.

We'll remind you to contact us at any time with questions or concerns and that we love pictures and updates from time to time. Finally, we'll wave you and your Bun off to begin your life together.

The Pick-Up Day appointment is meant to be fun and relaxing, while giving us the opportunity to share important information with each other, as questions are asked and answered. We are just as excited to meet you as you are to meet your Bun!
