Interesting Facts About Gumption:

  • Gumption was born on April 5, 2024, at Blueberry Hill rabbitry.

  • He is a solid lilac false dwarf buck

  • Gumption is a very cautious buck and we have been working very hard to gain his trust. It's coming slowly, but he will now sniff our faces and boop our hands...sometimes.

  • We can tell he has a sweet spirit with a desire to binky and play. He is too timid and skittish to let loose and go full-on goofy bunny. The day he finally does will be so wonderful!

  • Gumption is very much an Observant boy, but we know there are many other facets of his temperament.

  • Gumption sired two litters while serving as a breeding buck at Hot Cross Buns

  • We retired him very early because he suddenly started to spray and we didn't want it to become a bad habit. making it difficult for him to find a forever family later on.

  • Gumption was neutered on March 12, 2025. Since his neuter, he has not sprayed at all.

Gumption is a total Eeyore Bun. He keeps his head down and muddles through life the best he can. His expression rarely changes, and I every time I interact with him, I think I hear him say, "Thanks for noticing me," in his best Eeyore voice. That's not to say he doesn't have some spirit and sass to him. He does! His thumps are true thumps and even startle our nearly deaf elderly dog from across the room and down the hall. He does not like to have his picture taken and went so far as to nearly chomp through the wire for the lightbox light. Thank goodness for electrical tape! I have learned to sit across the room and use my longer range camera lens to try to get better photos that show off more of his personality. If I sit too close to him, he puts his head down and goes full Eeyore.

Gumption is a big boy, weighing just shy of 6 lbs. Holland Lops are supposed to weigh no more than 4 lbs, but since he's a false dwarf boy, he gets a pass. He could definitely benefit from more exercise and space to free-roam on a regular basis.

All in all, Gumption is a good egg and we love his rather droopy, observant self.
