Holly is an adorable baby doe who is an extremely observant girl. She is very serious and has the feel of an old soul when we work with her. She has the most darling little grumpy face we absolutely adore.
She is definitely on the low energy side, although she makes an effort to explore and investigate her environment before she hunkers down to have a staring contest with whomever (or whatever!) might be in her line of vision.
Holly tolerates cuddles well and will hang out with her people. When we say he "tolerates" cuddles, she usually sits still nicely, but has a tendency of scrunching up her little face or not expressing herself at all. It's pretty funny and cute, but we wanted to be honest and let people know her expression isn't one of blissful joy during cuddle sessions.
Size-wise, Holly looks like she's going to be a little Bun, so may end up being about 4lbs when fully grown. She is absolutely lovely to look at. She does have a tendency of hiding behind her ears and pretending she's invisible to anyone in the room. Chocolate rabbits typically have a slight reddish cast to their eyes, which you may notice depending upon the lighting in the room or in photographs.
Holly's ideal family will be gentle and quiet natured. She doesn't like too much excitement to rock her world, but she tolerates changes fairly well. She would not appreciate a busy, very social family, but would do well with homebodies who enjoy chilling out at home to talk and read or watch quiet movies. Older well-behaved children who have been taught how to love animals and give them their space when the bunny shows a desire to be left alone would be fine, but more rambunctious kiddos would probably be too much for her quiet soul. Cats intrigue her somewhat, while dogs tend to make her hide behind her ears. She may very well become bolder and braver as she bonds with his new family and relaxes into her new home, but observant Buns tend to remain pretty quiet and observant. .
As the Hot Cross Buns are raised to be pampered pets, we do require the signing of a Spay/Neuter Agreement as part of our placement paperwork. Please speak to your rabbit-knowledgeable vet to inquire about their services and fees.
All of the baby Buns go to their new homes with a bag full of goodies including: a packet of bunny care information, a small bag of transition food and hay, a snack baggie of old-fashioned raw oats for treats, a toy, and a fleece snuggle mat.
1/21/25 UPDATE...We've been holding off on updating the older babies' pictures and videos, mainly because of Holly. She decided to escape the exercise pen in which she resided with her mama Henrietta and sister Ivy, and decided to try life as a feral Bun within the safety of the Bun Rom in our home. She wouldn't let us touch her. After two weeks of this, she stopped in front of me and allowed me to scoop her up. Talk about a surprise! Since then she has been living in her own cage space and has been much more comfortable with with receiving pets, cuddles, and attention from us. She still has her mama's wonky ears, which is one of her most endearing characteristics. She's a lovely little doe!
