Hippopotamus is probably the most cuddle-Bun-ish of all the babies in this litter. He is a pretty relaxed little guy and sits happily in a lap, but he is also really good at amusing himself, so has strong middle-of-the-road tendencies, too.
He will hop around and explore, and then suddenly flop over on his side when his curiosity has been satisfied. We love this about him. He's pretty mid-range on the energy level scale, not too busy, not too quiet, just a comfortable, confident little guy.
Size-wise, Hippopotamus looks like he could go either way at this point. He may be a smaller buck, but I believe he's going to be a very comfortable mid-sided Holland Lop, right around 4lbs. He could surprise us and be a false dwarf, but he hasn't grown out enough to tell yet. He has a thicker coat that appears to be fluffier than the coats of his litter mates. He may need a bit of extra grooming and tidying around his bottom as he matures, but it shouldn't be a time-consuming task if cared for as needed.
Hippopotamus' ideal family will be laidback and will follow his lead on how much attention and interaction he's up for at any given moment. He enjoys hanging out and playing gently, but he also likes cuddling in a lap and watching the world go by. He would do well with calm, gentle children of all ages, under proper adult supervision. Other pets will interest him, although dogs who tend to bark a lot will not make him terribly happy. He would love a home where he can free-roam, at least part of the time when he's reliably litter box trained.
As the Hot Cross Buns are raised to be pampered pets, we do require the signing of a Spay/Neuter Agreement as part of our placement paperwork. Please speak to your rabbit-knowledgeable vet to inquire about their services and fees.
All of the baby Buns go to their new homes with a bag full of goodies including: a packet of bunny care information, a small bag of transition food and hay, a snack baggie of old-fashioned raw oats for treats, a toy, and a fleece snuggle mat.
