Herald, after the song Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, is a very gentle and observant little buck. He is initially timid, but warms up as he becomes more comfortable around new people and situations. He is cautious and never makes rash decisions. He has a wonky left ear that sometimes lays across his back diagonally, but this trait will probably fade away as he grows older and gains better ear control.

He is on the lower end of the energy scale, although he does move around to carefully examine and slowly explore his environment. He tolerates affection, but likes to have the ability to hop away for a bit of space and is more likely to return if he can do so under his own steam.

He would enjoy older, gentle children who will be taught that bunnies need personal time and space to relax on their own sometimes. He could be a great reading buddy, but wouldn't necessarily enjoy noisy video games or action-movie nights. If pets are in the home, he would do better with cats or quiet, well-behaved dogs.

Size-wise, Herald looks like he's going to be a bigger boy, so may end up being 4-5 lbs when fully grown. He has a soft coat, but does not bear a thick double coat, as some of our Buns have. His more typical coat tends to make grooming easier and more straightforward during shedding seasons. Any extra grooming needs should be minimal,, except for daily grooming during molts. The rest of the time, he should have a gentle brushing 2-3 times per week. Nail trimming should occur every 3 weeks or as needed.

Herald's ideal family will be laidback and will follow his lead on how much attention and interaction he's up for at any given moment. At this point, he's more of a hang out on the floor together while Herald sniffs and tentatively climbs on us kind of a guy, but he may very well become bolder and braver as he bonds with his new family and relaxes into his new home.

As the Hot Cross Buns are raised to be pampered pets, we do require the signing of a Spay/Neuter Agreement as part of our placement paperwork. Please speak to your rabbit-knowledgeable vet to inquire about their services and fees.

All of the baby Buns go to their new homes with a bag full of goodies including: a packet of bunny care information, a small bag of transition food and hay, a snack baggie of old-fashioned raw oats for treats, a toy, and a fleece snuggle mat.
