Driftwood is a very handsome black tort fuzzy Holland Lop. He's quite amusing, as half of the time he has a clueless, vacant expression on his face, and the other half of the time, he's hamming it up and being a complete goof. He is quite the smoosh Bun and loves cuddles. He's a bit more active than his sister, but that's not saying much because they are both little potatoes. Outside of being cuddled, his favorite activity seems to be washing his face and paws. He likes to try to climb up pillows and cushions and slide down them, but sometimes needs a little boost to get his furry tushie where he wants to go. Nothing really fazes Driftwood and his demeanor never seems to change. He's a very solid, stable kind of guy. He likes to nap and cuddle in the lap of a trusted person. Driftwood is the spitting image of his sire Sullivan in terms of personality.
Because Driftwood is a fuzzy Holland Lop, he will need to be placed with a person/family with plenty of time for his extra grooming needs. If not brushed regularly, mats tend to develop pretty much everywhere. The baby coat usually needs to be clipped off, as it has a different, more cottony texture that mats more easily. If daily brushing can be part of his routine, the longer, more luxurious coat may be manageable. The few fuzzy Hollands born and placed through Hot Cross Buns have gone to families who prefer to clip their coats into something resembling a puppy cut, which looks adorable on them. There are professional groomers out there who have bunny clients, but it's best to find one or know that you can learn to clip them yourself before committing to a fuzzy. Clipping will need to be done every 2-3 months, depending upon how much brushing time you can spend with them every day/week. Fuzzy Hollands always appreciate a shorter coat in the summer months, regardless.
If you are considering adding a fuzzy Holland Lop to your life, please spend a bit of time researching how to groom fuzzy Hollands and Angora rabbits, the best grooming tools to use, and tips and best practices for grooming rabbits. We can give some guidance, but it has been about 2.5 years since we've had a fuzzy baby, so our memories are a bit "fuzzy" on the finer points. ( LOL. I couldn't resist.)
As the Hot Cross Buns are raised to be pampered pets, we do require the signing of a Spay/Neuter Agreement as part of our placement paperwork. Please speak to your rabbit-knowledgeable vet to inquire about their services and fees.
All of the baby Buns go to their new homes with a bag full of goodies including: a packet of bunny care information, a small bag of transition food and hay, a snack baggie of old-fashioned raw oats for treats, a toy, and a fleece snuggle mat.
